About

"Inflexibility is one of the worst human failings. You can learn to check impetuosity, overcome fear with confidence, and laziness with discipline. But for rigidity of mind there is no antidote. It carries the seeds of its own destruction.” - Anonymous

The LCAC competitive team is a year round swim team that views itself as a developmental program where training is always seen through the educational lens. Under our guidance, your child is taught and treated as a student of sport, as opposed to an athlete or a swimmer. We turn the training environment into a classroom filled with opportunity; a place where students will be taught and provided with a unique learning experience. In our world, we associate training to how one would study. In turn, daily practice provides essential skills and lessons, and only when thoroughly prepared, competition is there to test will.

As a resource of our high expectations, we look to implement a consistent stroke and technique curriculum while your child's body and mind develop. By appealing to your child in and out of the pool, we are constantly monitoring and adapting to other factors that may affect them, such as school, home, and social environments. This forces our coaching staff to keep things fresh, while always looking at different perspectives based on your child's individual needs. We do all of this to keep your child engaged with long term participation in mind.

As a program, we embrace the concept of failure both in daily practice, competition, and life. This approach allows the students to be in an environment of opportunity; one where they may learn and grow from their mistakes, rather than viewing failure negatively. It is important to us that both the coach and student understand that failure at all levels is a part of the process, and with discipline and a positive attitude, we increase our chances of having success.

WINNING IS NOT THE #1 PART OF THE SPORT OF SWIMMING

Providing an emotionally positive environment where young children can feel comfortable and learn is the ULTIMATE goal of swimming with LCAC. Sure, going fast and winning at meets is great, but it is aimless if your children are not having fun in the water while learning.

Life has its up’s and down’s- swimming is no different. Some meets we are ROCKSTARS, and others we seem to wake up on the wrong side of the bed- AND IT’S OK. The process is the focus, not the end result. Give us your all, and every day will be a good day!

ATTITUDE IS A LIFE SKILL THAT WE START NURTURING RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!

At LCAC, we challenge your children to grow into a respectful young adult who fully embraces their own unique potential. A part of growing up means you DO NOT always win. Processing our own weaknesses is a difficult but IMMINENT part of life, and at LCAC, we utilize every swim-related lesson to tie to everyday life. Our highly trained and experienced coaches teach our swimmers that disqualifications and bad days are learning experiences that we can grow from- how else will we have sunny days if it is always bright outside?

DEDICATION, DEDICATION, DEDICATION

One of the greatest things about the sport of swimming is that ANYONE can do it. Forget your height, weight, size, or athletic level- if you have the heart for it- YOU CAN DO IT! The one thing that separates young athletes from everyday leisure swimmers is DEDICATION. At LCAC, we teach our young athletes to: COMMIT their time to the team, DEDICATE their hopes and goals to the sport, and to GIVE 150% everyday- whether good or bad!

FORGET THE OLYMPICS

Olympic swimming is a HUGE part of American culture. It gives our young swimmers positive role models to look up to, and sparks a passion for one of the greatest sports in the world. HOWEVER, many athletes and parents alike, get caught up in tunnel vision. There is SO MUCH more to swimming than JUST the Olympics! At LCAC, we teach our swimmers to set their OWN goals within the sport- whether it be breaking their own personal record or qualifying for a state meet. Shoot for the stars, always dream big, but NEVER get discouraged because of forgetting to set SHORT TERM goals!
