The LCAC competitive team is a year round swim team that views itself as a developmental program where training is always seen through the educational lens. Under our guidance, your child is taught and treated as a student of sport, as opposed to an athlete or a swimmer. We turn the training environment into a classroom filled with opportunity; a place where students will be taught and provided with a unique learning experience. In our world, we associate training to how one would study. In turn, daily practice provides essential skills and lessons, and only when thoroughly prepared, competition is there to test will.
As a resource of our high expectations, we look to implement a consistent stroke and technique curriculum while your child's body and mind develop. By appealing to your child in and out of the pool, we are constantly monitoring and adapting to other factors that may affect them, such as school, home, and social environments. This forces our coaching staff to keep things fresh, while always looking at different perspectives based on your child's individual needs. We do all of this to keep your child engaged with long term participation in mind.
As a program, we embrace the concept of failure both in daily practice, competition, and life. This approach allows the students to be in an environment of opportunity; one where they may learn and grow from their mistakes, rather than viewing failure negatively. It is important to us that both the coach and student understand that failure at all levels is a part of the process, and with discipline and a positive attitude, we increase our chances of having success.
